In summary, this unit certainly fits the purpose for which I wanted it, and I got a good deal on it on eBay. Unit has a USB connection so you can download directly to your PC as JPGs you really don't need any of the software Bushnell provides on CD. Definitely good is the SD card slot, even with a 256Mb card I can take about 300 pictures at a time and not have to worry about the pictures deleting if the camera battery dies. This is absolutely a step up from the 0.3 Mp entry-level binocs/digital cams. 2.1 Mp is, well, 2.1 Mp so pics are acceptable but not outstanding don't expect gallery-quality pics but you will get reasonable 4圆's. Trick is to take multiple pictures at a time, delete the ones that don't turn out or are blurry. Exposure adjusts to available light obviously, you get your best pictures in sunny daylight. No tripod mount, that would have been a good feature. Camera is good, but you need to have a steady hand at 8x magnification. Binocular optics are good but not great I have a pair of 10x42 Bushnells that are much better optics for roughly the same price. I'm new into bird-watching, I wanted to be able to take pics from a distance to be able to identify the birds (color, markings, patterns, etc). Have owned for: one week, but I've already used it extensively. Great for bird watching, quick pix for descriptions
